Collecting, selling or buying Dooney and Bourke purses

Dooney and Bourke purses are by no means alone when it gees to fakes on the today's market. To protect an unsuspecting victim of look-a-like identity-fraud, one should know what to look for when buying one of these fine purses on okay.
The first thing to look for on the older and newer bags is a metal, gold colored fob with a duck in the middle. Now, depending on the style of purse, the fob will have just a metal heart with the name Dooney and Bourke in it in cursive writing, or it may have a larger shiney metal fob with only the duck in color. The fob on the Chain purse is a piece of leather with a leather heart on it. For the older purses, it is always hung on the side by a piece of leather and they also have sewn on leather labelwith thesignature duck and Dooney and Bourke printed underneath.
This is the second indicator of a real vs. fraud. The fruads will have the leather label on the outside with what looks like stiching, but beware, if you can pry under with your fingernails, it isn't the real thing. Another new thing it seems that Dooney and Bourke has begun is by putting what I describe as a luggage tag with the name Dooney and Bourke on their purses.
Lastly, and very important is the label inside the purse. Depending on the style and when it was made, the label could be on the side of the purse or under the zippered pouch. It is in classic red, white, and blue and says on one side, Dooney and Bourke. On the other side it has the serial number. It is very important that all three items, the fob, the intereior label, and the depending on the type of purse the outside leather label are with the purse when you purchase it, otherwise there isn't a way to determine if it legit or not.
So, if you own one of these gourgeous handbags or accessories, don't cut the label or the fob off or any tags other than the price tag off. If you do purchase a newer bag, you can register it with Dooney and Bourke at their website. I hope that you find this helpful in your endevor to own a truly beautiful and long-lasting designer handbag.
As an added note to my submission I understand that now some of the bags are made in China, but they still have all of the above mentioned items. Labor is much cheaper and thankfully the handbags don't show.
