Leaving Newbiedom

In another thread, an OP responded to a negative feedback by calling the buyer a "neophyte". The buyer had been a member since 2001 and had nearly 250 transactions on that ID. This got me to wondering about Newbiedom. Often, the advice given on the boards and the responses given to a poster depend on how long that poster has been a member and how many transactions took place in that time. In your opinion, when does the slack-cutting end? How many units of time and how many transactions must take place before you consider a member no longer a newbie? And, just for funsies, do you think that newbies should be treated differently than long-time, experienced members and how far are you willing to go if you do make allowances? How is your feedback impacted by a member's status in re Newbiedom?
